Piilo is not your ordinary stool. It is a versatile piece of furniture that doubles as a side table and hides a storage space inside its seat. This unique feature makes it suitable for various spaces and needs. Whether it's a spare stool in the kitchen, an entrance hall seat, a sofa side table, or a bedside table, Piilo effortlessly blends into any environment while simultaneously storing and hiding small objects.
Constructed using Finnish birch and birch plywood, Piilo showcases the beauty of natural materials. The combination of light birch and bold colors, along with its simple form, gives the stool its distinct identity.
Measuring at a height of 450mm and with a seat diameter of 330mm, Piilo offers ample storage space with an inner size of 70mm in height and 300mm in diameter. Its compact dimensions make it ideal for small but functional homes, where every inch of space matters.
The idea for Piilo was born in January 2017 in Helsinki, Finland, and the prototype was exhibited at the Finnish Design Fair Habitare in September 2018. Since then, Piilo has gained recognition for its innovative design and practicality.
Hanna Lantto's Piilo stool was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2019. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon outstanding designs that showcase creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life. Piilo's incorporation of best practices in art, science, design, and technology sets it apart as a design that truly makes a difference.
Piilo is more than just a stool; it is a clever solution for small spaces that combines functionality, style, and storage. With its unique design and versatility, Piilo adds a touch of elegance to any room while helping you stay organized.
